Article Types

Gerontology Studies welcomes the following types of manuscripts, while focusing primarily on the publication of quality research articles:

· Research Articles: In-depth reports of original research, grounded in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methodologies. A major emphasis is placed on the policy and practical implications of the findings, particularly within the context of Asia, but with global relevance.

· Book Reviews: Critical analyses of one or more recent scholarly volumes. These are typically solicited by the editorial team.


Manuscript Structure

All manuscripts should be written in English and include the following elements in order:

1. Title: An informative and concise title of not more than 15 words.

2. Abstract: Structured paragraphs totalling between 200 and 300 words, in sections of Purpose, Design/methodology/approach, Findings, and Originality/value.

3. Keywords: 3 to 7 keywords that capture the main topics of the paper.

4. Main Text: This should typically include Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion sections.

5. Acknowledgments: Acknowledge any individuals or organizations who contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

6. Disclosure/Competing Interests Statement: A statement declaring any financial or non-financial interests. If none, please state: "The authors report there are no competing interests to declare."

7. Funding Details: Provide full details of any funding that supported the research.

8. References: In APA style as prescribed below.

9. Appendices (if applicable)

10. Tables and Figures (each on a separate page with a caption)


Style Guidelines

·  Formatting: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Please do not submit PDFs. All text should be double-spaced, using a 12-point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins on all sides.

·  Spelling: Please use British spelling style consistently throughout your manuscript.

·  Quotations: Use single quotation marks, except for a quotation 'within' a quotation. Long quotations (over 40 words) should be indented without quotation marks.

·  Manuscript Length:

o Research Articles: Should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words (including references, tables, and figures).

o Book Reviews: Should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words.

o Longer manuscripts may be considered at the discretion of the Editors-in-Chief.

·  References: Please follow the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition style for all in-text citations and the reference list.

·  Units: Please use SI units (e.g., metres, kilograms).


Using Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any third-party material (e.g., figures, tables, extensive quotations) for which they do not hold the copyright. Written permission from the copyright holder must be secured prior to submission.

All manuscripts should be submitted via email to the editorial office.

As part of our commitment to originality, Gerontology Studies uses industry-standard software to screen all submissions for plagiarism. By submitting your manuscript, you agree to these originality checks.

Upon acceptance, it is recommended that you retain a copy of your final accepted manuscript for your records.


Data Sharing Policy

We encourage authors to share the data supporting their research findings by depositing them in a recognised data repository. Where applicable, a Data Availability Statement should be included in your manuscript with a link and persistent identifier for the dataset.


Publication Charges

There are no publication charges for authors.
